“When the poor one called out,
the LORD heard, and from all his distress he saved him.” (Psalm 34:7)
There are days where a priest
is inundated with prayers requests. Days
that everyone brings to me for prayer people that are sick, people that are
distressed, people that just need to feel the hand of God at work in their
lives. So today’s responsorial psalm is
very fitting. He listens to us. He delivers us. He rescues us! The words of Jesus in the gospel as he
teaches us the “Our Father” are also very comforting especially in times of
distress: “Your Father knows what you
need before you ask him.” (Matthew
6:8) Trust in the Lord, and he will
deliver you from all distress.
