"Lent is a favorable time for letting Christ serve us so that we in turn may become more like him." --Pope Francis
As Christians, we never think of our relationship with Jesus in this way. We are supposed to serve him, right? Yet the Holy Father turns the tables on us and declares Lent a "favorable time" to let the Master serve us. During Lent, we recognize our brokenness, our sinfulness, and our need for Jesus as we walk with him through the desert. Remember that while Jesus was in the desert, the angels ministered to him, and now in our Lenten desert, Jesus wants to minister to us. In doing so, he will restore us, heal us, forgive us, and most importantly teach us to serve and become more like him. Lent is indeed a time for letting Christ serve us. Our time for service will come. As for now, surrender and let the Lord do the heavy lifting.
