Day 9 - A Cry For Help
Perhaps it’s pride. Perhaps it’s sheer stubbornness. But why are we so afraid to ask for help? The Psalm in today’s Mass tells us “Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me (Psalm 138).” We all get into trouble. All of us sin. All of us hurt and need a life line every now and then. Why is it so difficult to ask for help especially when we know that our cries will be answered by our loving God? Lent is a time to recognize our woundedness and look to the Lord for healing. It is a time to realize that we do indeed need help from above because we definitely can’t get by on our own. Our prayers will not go unanswered. He will come to our aid. As Jesus tell us in today’s gospel: all we have to do is ask.
